Japanese Society (Samurai)
The Japanese Medieval Society was built around many different traditions and beliefs.
The Samurai is one of the most well known warriors in the Japanese Medieval times,
they protected the people of their community, after a while the Samurai became the
highest rank of people in the Edo Period, the Samurai used many different weapons to
fight but the one that they were most well known for was the sword. The Samurai
were really important in the Heian Period this period of time ran from 794-1185.
The Samurai where hired by many wealthy land owners and fought for many years.

Japanese Society (Clothing)
The traditional dress for the Japanese Society in the Medieval period where called Kimono, This
dress like robe was made out of the fabric silk. The Kimono started from above the shoulders and reached
all the way down to the floor. Most Kimono are tied with a belt, this belt is called an Obi.
The kimono today is only ever worn if there is a a special celebration,
but in the Medieval period the Kimono was worn every day.
The Kimono takes quite a while to put on.
In the summer a different type of Kimono is worn, fot the children and young adults.
This is called a Yukata, the Yukata is much easier to move around in unlike the Kimono.
